Entering inpatient treatment at our residential treatment center can seem intimidating, especially if you have no idea what to expect. To help you feel more at ease with starting your recovery journey, here are some things you can expect during your stay with Inner Healing Sanctuary:
A Warm, Inviting Welcome
You shouldn’t feel like you’re being admitted into a hospital, with all white furnishings and a cold and sterile environment. From the moment you walk through our doors, we do our best to provide you with a sanctuary that feels warm and welcoming, a place suited for healing your body and mind. On your first day with us, your dedicated staff will be there to familiarize you with the facility and all available amenities, guiding you through your stay and to your accommodations.
Medical Detox
If you’re physically dependent on substances, you will need to detox before you continue with the program. Detox takes a few days (depending on the substance and how long you have been using it, among other factors). In inpatient treatment, your detox will be overseen by medical professionals who will ensure the process is as comfortable and risk-free as possible.
Smooth & Successful Detox
The first step in our program is detox. The duration of the detox usually spans several days, depending on various factors, such as the type of substance involved and the length of its usage. Our highly skilled medical professionals oversee the detox process with the utmost care, striving for its successful completion while prioritizing your comfort.
Effective Psychiatric Treatment
We are a dual-diagnosis recovery center. Our approach is rooted in the understanding that addiction seldom exists in isolation; it frequently co-occurs with underlying mental health conditions. In many instances, it is the presence of these mental health disorders that triggers substance use and then, dependence.
Treating just the addiction, and neglecting any underlying mental health conditions won’t lead to a fully complete recovery. That is why our psychiatrists will work with you to diagnose any co-occurring disorders, such as depression, chronic anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
In some cases when necessary, our psychiatric care team might prescribe non-addictive medications to help manage any mental hurdles. Rest assured, they will carefully monitor dosage to ensure a safe treatment.
Inpatient Treatment Program
At the heart of the most successful rehab programs today, such as ours, are CBT and DBT:
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) centers on the intricate connections between thoughts, emotions, and actions. CBT equips individuals with the tools to confront distorted thinking patterns, empowering them to make rational and logical decisions, even when faced with the urge to use substances.
Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) blends Eastern and Western wellness philosophies, aiming to cultivate resilience and meaning in life. While mindfulness forms the core of DBT, it extends beyond mere meditation. This therapeutic method instills mindfulness principles within a structure, enabling you to effectively manage challenging emotions. For those grappling with substance abuse, emotions and cravings often exert considerable influence. DBT’s mindfulness techniques will empower you to step back from the tumultuous emotional currents and take control, instead of charging at them head-on.
Though the treatment program will be delivered to you in a group setting, it is up to you to embrace and practice what you learn in-between sessions. Don’t worry, you won’t be alone. Your fellow residents, as well as your therapist and our team, will be with you every step of your journey.
Individual Therapy
In addition to the primary program, you will be paired with your own therapist for individual therapy sessions. During these sessions, you and your therapist will dive deep into your life, exploring your upbringing and outlook on the world, possible mental health conditions, and the journey that brought you to us.
Your therapist will also be there to assist you with any challenges you might face during your treatment. They understand that recovery from addiction can be just as hard, if not harder, than the addiction itself. These one-on-one sessions are vital to your recovery, and our therapists will do whatever they can to tend to your emotional and psychological needs.
Family Therapy
Due to its wide-reaching effects on an individual’s family, addiction is often referred to as a “family illness.” Family therapy is especially recommended if you are living with family members. These family therapy sessions will provide you and your family the opportunity to rebuild relationships and offer one another support. But if your loved ones are resistant to family therapy, don’t worry, your individual therapist will help you acquire the skills to repair and better manage your family relationships.
Though we highly encourage that family be physically present for these sessions, we also understand sometimes that just isn’t possible, whether it be due to distance or scheduling conflicts. In cases where your family is unable to physically attend group therapy sessions, we offer the option to arrange video sessions.
Post-Rehab Support
Going back out into the world can be intimidating, so we want to make sure that you feel comfortable and are well-equipped to start your new life. During your stay, alongside the core program, we will offer various services to help you find your ground: art and music therapy, yoga and meditation classes. After leaving our center, you will be given the opportunity to continue therapy with your individual therapist and attend group support sessions hosted by HVWC.
Now that you know what to expect during your stay at Inner Healing Sanctuary, you can approach your treatment with a sense of ease. If you have any lingering questions about our program and what we offer, contact us today, and one of our care specialists will address any questions or concerns.
